Doctor, Specialist in Ophthalmology, by the National Medical Council, since 1992.
Graduated in Medicine,​ in 1978, from the Nova Medical School, Universidade Nova de Lisboa.
As per the Hospital Medical Career, obtained the degree of Assistant, in 1990, having finished with the Degree of Head of Department, in 2003, in the area of Ophthalmology.
Held the position of Director of the Ophthalmology Department and Assistant Clinical Director at Hospital de Faro.
In clinical practice, has experience in Pediatric Ophthalmology (Amblyopia and Strabismus), in Glaucoma, in Cataract and Refractive Surgery, in Retinal Pathology (Diabetic Retinopathy and Age-related Macular Degeneration).
