Degree in Medicine from ICBAS, University of Porto (2003).
Specialty internship at the Orthopedics Department of Santo António Hospital (2005 - 2011) where he still works as a Graduate Hospital Assistant.
In 2017 he completed his PhD in Medical Sciences at ICBAS - University of Porto with the thesis “Prophylaxis, Diagnosis and Treatment of Periprosthetic Infections”.
He founded and has coordinated the Osteoarticular Infection Group of Porto (GRIP) since 2017, at Centro Hospitalar Universitário de Santo António and Hospital Lusíadas.
Extensive clinical research and numerous publications, including co-authoring the latest world definitions of periprosthetic infection.
He is active in several national and international scientific societies.
He is currently president of the European Bone and Joint Infection Society (EBJIS) and a member of the Orthopaedic College of the Portuguese Medical Association.
