In the abdominal region, the two main problems encountered are excess skin and excess fat. When skin is not flaccid (still retaining some elasticity) but does contain some localized fat, liposuction may be an appropriate option. When excess skin becomes a problem, a variety of abdominoplasty options are available. Further, abdominoplasty may help to improve abdominal distension (diastases of the rectus abdominis muscle) and flaccidity in the pubic region. The concept of 360-degree abdominoplasty or circular body lift, beyond treating problems related to the front of the abdomen, allows for further improvement to contouring of the posterior region (back and glutes).
For cases in which glute volume is insufficient, improvement to form and contour may be obtained by adding fat, transferred via liposuction, from other regions of the body (lipofilling, also commonly referred to as “Brazilian Butt Lift”) or with implants, if client is thin and lacking in available fat. For other cases, skin flaccidity in this area may be the problem, therefore, posterior body lift (with or without abdominoplasty) would be an option to consider.
Definition of contours of the arm may be improved with liposuction. In cases where excess skin is significant, removal of skin from this zone (brachioplasty) would be the most effective solution to resolve or prevent skin flaccidity.
Contouring surgery for lower members (thigh and knee areas) may involve liposuction — to treat localized adiposity —, or lifting, to remove skin around thighs when flaccidity is significant. On the legs, particularly in the calf region, liposculpture/lipofilling or placement of implants may be options to consider.
